Low Character Poly – Chapter 01 (WIP)

June 11, 2012

Here is the first chapter completed from Jonathan Williamson’s “Low Poly Game Character Training Series“.  This series takes you through the complete process of creating, modeling, texturing, rigging, animating, and bringing a character into a game engine.  The first chapter has covered the basic setup of reference images for your character, and how to set up a base mesh that will allow us to sculpt more detail into it later.

I have really been looking forward to this series and will be posting all my work-in-progress here.  Please feel free to leave comments about how you think it’s looking!

  1. Keep it up! Let me know if you have any questions and I hope you like the series!

    • Hey Jonathan, thanks for checking out the site!

I’m really diggin the series so far. I’ve already watched the whole sculpting series when I was trying to create a fantasy character. I figured out quickly that I need to learn the methods first and then try creating something.

That leaves me to ask: How do i begin to branch off into my own creations? I feel like I can never learn enough from watching tutorials, but feel it’s time to try and make my own renders. I’ve tried competitions but I usually get stuck on just picking an idea and sticking with it. Got any pointers?

    • This is a wonderful series man, I’m learning so much! It’s got me much more interested in the human anatomy now. 😀
