The final version of the low poly character has arrived!  Next I will be unwrapping the model so that we can bring it into GIMP and begin texturing it!

Almost done!  I still need to do some touchup work on the hands and the rest of the body.  Then just add in the accessories and we’re off to texturing. Hooray!

Here is an update with the clothing down.  Still retopologizing the hi res model into a low res version.  Once I finish the arms, hands, and accessories I’ll be able to start unwrapping and texturing this bad boy!

This one took a long time but I learned a lot.  Near the end I was pretty much just retopologizing it myself.  Probably not the cleanest but I definitely understand it enough to do my own sculpts in the future!

And here is the final high resolution sculpt for the low poly character training series!  I think it turned out great and love Jonathan Williamson’s explanations of the tools to make this come to life.  I recommend this training series for anyone interested in learning how to sculpt in Blender, or even to learn basic 3D sculpting and anatomy.

The next chapter, Chapter 03, will begin the process of modeling a low resolution model from this high resolution model.  From there, I’ll be able to “bake” the high resolution detail to the low resolution model.  This allows games to look realistic while still maintaining a low poly count for better performance.

Pants are done, that only leaves the shoes left!  I’m excited, after this I’ll be able to start the retopology section. Something I’ve been really interested in!

I haven’t been able to get work done this past week, but will hopefully have some new video tutorials of the rigid body physics up soon for everyone to see.  Check back soon!

Here’s tonights update with the hands sculpted.  I need to work a little on the world settings so this is easier to see, but you get the point.  About halfway done now with the high poly sculpt.  Getting excited to get on to the next section!
