This animation of the Low Poly Game Character Training Series by Jonathan Williamson marks a very long and educational journey. It’s funny, and quite sad, to think that I started this series a year ago. It has taken a lot of hard work and dedication outside from everyday life, but I’m glad it’s almost finished.
Exporting the character into the Unity game engine is really all that’s left, and that won’t be something for me to post here. So I will finish this series off by saying thank you to Jonathan and the CG Cookie team for making such wonderful educational material!
This is the first time I’ve tried animating, and following a whole character concept all the way thru for that matter. Although not perfect (not trying to be with this one), I really did learn a lot on the whole process and really look forward to my own creations. Check back soon!

Here is the final textured version! It took me a long time to get thru that section but I definitely learned a lot, both on Texture Painting AND on using GIMP. The open source community is so wonderful and I encourage everyone to check out these amazing pieces of software!
The next section will start rigging the character and getting him set up for animation, which is probably going to be my favorite part. The series is getting close to done and I’ve come a long way since I’ve first opened Blender. I can’t wait to put these skills to the test when I develop my own characters. Let me know what you think!
